Integrated Solar on 8 New-Build Tiled Roofs

The Brief

The Roofers were brought in to roof an 8-home new-build development on the Greater Manchester, with integrated in-roof solar planned into every plot from the outset. The brief was clear: the solar had to sit flush within the tiled roof rather than being bolted on afterwards, so each of the eight homes had a clean, built-in finish. To make that work on a fixed build programme, the roofing and the solar were planned together with the same trusted specialist solar contractor from day one.

What We Did

Our roofing work across the eight plots included:

• Tiled roofs across all eight plots: Each home was roofed in tile with even coursing and clean detailing, giving a proper, long-lasting covering ready to take the integrated solar.
• The roofing side of the solar install: We carried out the roofing elements of the in-roof system, fitting the battens, solar trays and flashing, setting the panels flush into the tile and feeding the cables through into each roof space.
• Coordinated with a specialist solar contractor: The electrical works, inverters and batteries, commissioning and MCS certification were handled by our trusted specialist solar subcontractor, planned alongside our roofing from the outset rather than bolted on at the end.
• Flashed in for clean water shedding: Each array was flashed into the surrounding tile so water sheds cleanly around and past it, with no retrofit brackets breaking the roof surface.
• Backed by our roofing guarantee: Our 15-year workmanship guarantee covers the roofing works, including installation of the in-roof solar roofing system. The electrical works, solar equipment and certification are covered separately under the relevant installer and manufacturer terms.
• Drone-verified finish: Each finished roof was checked from above by drone to confirm the arrays sat flush and the tile coursing was neat right across the development.

The Result

All eight homes have a neat, built-in solar look with no bolt-on rails and no retrofit brackets on show. The panels sit flush within the tile, water sheds cleanly, and every roof reads correctly from the ground and from above. With our roofing and the specialist solar works planned together from the start, each plot was finished to a consistent standard across the development.
