Traditional Leadwork
The Roofers Blackpool carry out traditional leadwork across the Fylde Coast, forming valleys, flashings, soakers and chimney details by hand. Good leadwork is what keeps a roof watertight at its most vulnerable points, and we do it the proper way as part of every re-roof or as standalone work.
Leadwork is where a lot of roofs fail, because the detailing at valleys, chimneys and abutments is skilled work that is often rushed or done cheaply. We treat it as the craft it is.
We form and dress lead on site to fit the roof exactly, creating valleys, flashings, soakers and chimney details that shed water cleanly and last as long as the roof itself.
Using the correct code of lead and traditional techniques means the finished detailing is both weathertight and in keeping with the property, which matters on period and character buildings.
Problems with leadwork often develop where lead has been poorly detailed, inadequately fixed, installed in unsuitable lengths, or where movement and weathering have not been allowed for, and existing lead can deteriorate through age. We assess the detail itself and the surrounding roof area so the underlying cause is identified and fixed properly. Leadwork is included as standard on our re-roofs, and we also take on standalone leadwork where existing detailing has failed.
